Synchronic WG Install 2/1/2012

We finally got around to installing the Synchronic Wastegate. We removed all the Air To Water Intercooler equipment, and took the Tial Wastegate out. After discussing options, we decided not to use gaskets as we had with the Tial wastegate. Instead we used the copper high temperature spray, and taped up both the Synchronic Wastegate and the turbo exhaust flanges.

The wastegate kit came with a copper o-ring that goes around the inlet portion of the wastegate. This would seal very nicely. On the outlet portion, we thought that either a gasket or some kind of spray would most likely allow a very nice seal. On the outlet side, the flange is flat, so we didn't want to take any chances with leaky exhaust.

Realistically a leak on the outlet portion of the wastegate would be of no consequense, since all its doing is routing extra exhaust around the turbo. A leak in this section would be more annoying than anything else.

To make the install easier on the Toyota MR2 Turbo, we decided to put studs on the ATS Racing exhaust flange. This made our wastegate install a simple drop and tighten deal. We also used RED threadlocker to make sure things stay tight.
